My Husband and I lived in several different new homes, on the Eastside of Albuquerque, NM. We decided to make a change to the Westside and purchased this brand new home in a new neighborhood. We loved the style of Opel Jenkins built homes, with raised and vaulted ceilings, a large amount of wood trim, a combo of gas log and/or wood burning fireplace, and 100% real all brick house. Also, even though this is single level home it sits up high for privacy. Our home was pre-wired for alarm system and sensor detection (but we never felt the need to activate it). At the time of the move, we added a concrete side walk from the front of our home to the back, and at the same time enlarged the back patio. We spent lots of time in the quiet and serenity of our back yard. As time went on, we added a metal shed in the back yard, and put up a low retaining wall. About six years ago we had the windows replaced with Glass Rite windows which are double strength, dual pane, UV protection, with decorative inserts. On either side of the windows we added dual locks with special locks (4 inches high) for extra security, and/or when one is running the evaporative cooler, one can leave the home with the cooler on and the windows open 4 inches high but still locked. Also about six years ago, the master bath shower/tub was converted to a Re-Bath shower with a seat, two shower heads, and compartments for soap, shampoo, etc.
We loved the location, just a hop, skip, and jump away from many and various shopping/eating/doctor's offices, a park etc. Over the years, this location has just gotten even better, so much so that this area is considered a "to die for" location. Across the street there is a Hobby Lobby and a strip mall which includes Target, Big 5, many smaller shops, Natural Grocers, and a dollar theater. Less than 3 miles away are two hospitals, a couple of Smith's grocery stores, Albertsons, Costco, Walmart super store and Walmart neighborhood store, Sam's Club, gas stations, banks, car dealerships, and many restaurants (too many to mention) with just as many varied choices of cuisines. We also haave very easy and quick assess to Coors Blvd, Paseo Del Norte, and Rio Rancho which is just a few miles away.
We have a neighborhood watch, and have heard of little to no saftey issues. Neighbors are nice and can be very helpful.
From the front yard one has a view of the Sandia Mountains.
We have diligently maintained our home, and have loved living here. I would not leave; however, my husband passed away several years back and at my 90 plus years, I and need a change.
