We moved to Sandia Heights in 1996 after living in several parts of Albuquerque. We love the clean air, great community water system and the sense of space and privacy we have enjoyed here. We raised our two children here, where they attended Desert Ridge Middle School and La Cueva HS.

We bought a smaller, flat roof house and have remodeled it. We converted it to a pitched, cement tile roof. We raised the old garage floor and built a family room. We built a completely finished 3-car garage on the north side with a Trex view deck above. We added a studio/casita on the northwest side with a separate kitchen area, 3/4 bath and loft storage. Everything is on one level and very accessible. Three years ago we redid the kitchen and upgraded to a high-efficiency furnace and high-efficiency cooling system. We feel that now this home is worthy of the beautiful land it occupies.

Living in Sandia Heights is like living in the country, just outside the city. It's quiet and we have abundant wild life all around us including deer, quail, many other species of birds not found in the city, even coyotes and bobcats. We have great neighbors and a neighborhood association with many benefits. Membership is optional, unlike other high end neighborhoods with HOA fees.

Now we are ready to down size to a smaller home and give someone else the opportunity to enjoy one of the best spots in Albuquerque.
